Hello Winter Solstice

Hello Winter Solstice

Winter solstice is an astronomical phenomenon marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year. Here in the southern Hemisphere today marks the June solstice, ie the longest night of the year. Interestingly enough, the winter solstice itself lasts only a moment in time, so other terms are used for the day on which it occurs, such as "midwinter", or the "shortest day". The best thing about the winter solstice is that it means from today and for the next six months, the days will become gradually longer as we move closer to summer… and more time at the beach!
